California Wild Fires: An Update

As of this date, the death toll for the wildfires in California stands at 66 making it the most deadly fire in the history of our state. Moreover, thousands of people have been left homeless by this raging fire that has cost approximately $845 million in damage to parts of California. And in the true spirit the American people, citizens from all over the country are sending goods and money to help out those who have lost everything.

Here are the latest wild fire statistics

  • 30,000 acres have been destroyed
  • Some 35 percent of the fire has been contained at this point
  • 9,000 firefighters have been battling the wildfires
  • 8,817 structures destroyed, 7,600 of them homes
  • The three major wildfires are those in Butte County (Camp Fire), Los Angeles County,(Woolsey Fire) and Ventura County (Hill Fire)
  • 300,000 people have been forced from their homes statewide

Water, fire and wind remind us that nature is a force to be reckoned with and that it must be respected.
